👨👩👦 POV: We’re Parents of Newborn Work to Optimize Our Sleep
Two weeks ago my wife Keavy gave birth to our firstborn, Patrick. We went from being two of the best sleepers I know to taking on one of the most challenging sleep experiences known to man… caring for an infant baby. Here’s a look at the highs and lows of my sleep score for the first 10 nights that I tracked on my Oura ring. We also had a special appearance from the mama herself, as Keavy sharing how her sleep has been as a new mother. Baby, mama and dad are all doing well - figuring out our new normal!
😴 US News & World Report State of Sleep in the US
Last week US News & World Report released the most interesting facts and figures from their “Sleep Habits, Preferences Consumer Survey” and their “Sleep Quality Survey.” Compared to previous years, I was impressed that there’s some really promising and positive data about how Americans are caring for their sleep routine. 73% of U.S. adults follow a regular bedtime routine and 20% of U.S. adults say they stop using devices with screens 20-30 minutes before going to sleep. Which states get the best sleep? Vermont and Minnesota (woot woot!). Check out all of the facts and figures here.
🐒 Do the Drunken Monkey for Better Sleep
This TikTok sensation is really catching on. The "drunken monkey" is a fun little pre-bedtime exercise or "movement practice" that's meant to boost blood flow to your extremities. It involves taking a wide-legged stance, shifting the hips back and forth, and moving the arms around in alternating circular motions. You can read what all the buzz is about here on Eat This Not That… or if you’re looking for some entertainment, watch us do the Drunken Monkey ourselves here.
